A Montessori Teacher is responsible for creating a nurturing and stimulating learning environment for young children aged 2-6 years old, following the Montessori method of education. The teacher is expected to guide the children in their academic, social, and emotional growth, and foster their independence, creativity, and curiosity.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and deliver daily lessons and activities that align with the Montessori philosophy and curriculum, and meet the developmental needs of each child.
Create a safe and engaging learning environment that promotes exploration, discovery, and hands-on learning experiences.
Observe and assess each child’s progress and learning style, and provide individualised support and feedback to help them reach their full potential.
Foster positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues, and maintain open communication to ensure a collaborative and supportive learning community.
Maintain accurate records of each child’s progress and development, and use this information to inform future lesson plans and individualised instruction.
Attend and participate in staff meetings, professional development opportunities, and other school-related events as required.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field.
Montessori certification from a recognised training centre.
Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience in a Montessori classroom.
Strong knowledge of the Montessori philosophy and methodology, and a passion for working with young children.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues.
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to maintain accurate records and manage multiple tasks effectively.
Commitment to ongoing professional development and continuous learning.
